Its most captivating feature is its diverse analysis tools, ranging from general text analysis to word frequency charting, information extraction, and real-time text analysis, empowering writers to produce well-crafted and SEO-friendly articles quickly.

The Editor

Writer Journal features an ultra-modern text editor interface, built on the foundation of simplicity.

All panels in the editor are fully hideable, allowing users to concentrate solely on writing without unnecessary distractions.

Rich Text Formatting

Writer Journal introduces a rich text formatting tool panel, accessible at the bottom of the editor page. All formatting tools are fully hideable and customizable.

Writer Journal supports extensive rich text formatting and character styling, including bold, italic, both, underline, and strikethrough styles.

Real-Time Analyzers

Beyond offering the features of modern rich-text editors, we have introduced an innovative concept, real-time analyzers. Currently, there are 20 critical real-time analyzers that help writers achieve high-quality content, analyzing everything from basic information like character and word count to advanced metrics such as lexical density and lexical diversity, which are essential for producing high-quality articles.

Well-written English texts typically have a lexical density of 56% or above compared to spoken texts.

Organize and Order

Writer Journal organizes documents using both traditional folder-and-file systems and modern tagging systems (the latter being popular among note-takers).

Users can quickly search and find their documents by keyword or by selecting a tag associated with the document file.

Document Color

Writer Journal provides the functionality to assign colors to your documents for enhanced categorization. This feature enables users to organize their documents not only within folders but also by applying various colors to differentiate between them. For example, you can use the color 'red' to signify urgency and the color 'green' to indicate the completeness of a document. This color-coding system helps in visually identifying the status and priority of documents at a glance, streamlining the management process and improving overall efficiency. By leveraging this feature, users can maintain a well-organized and accessible document repository, tailored to their specific needs.

Text Color

Writer Journal offers the capability to apply colors to your text, enhancing the visual appeal and organization of your content. Additionally, it supports the compilation of colored text into easily navigable lists, facilitating better management and improved accessibility for users. This feature is particularly beneficial for distinguishing key points, categorizing information, and enhancing the overall readability of your documents. By leveraging these color-coding and list-compiling capabilities, writers can create structured and visually engaging content, ultimately improving workflow efficiency and content accessibility.

Growth Charts

Writer Journal tracks your progress for every document and folder, recording basic metrics such as character, word, sentence, and paragraph counts, as well as advanced metrics like average sentence length, lexical density, and lexical diversity. Progress is charted in easy-to-navigate graphs, allowing writers to monitor their progress and stay motivated to complete their articles and projects.

Version History

Never worry about rewrites. Each time Writer Journal saves a document, it automatically creates a copy, allowing you to revert to earlier versions at any time.

Real-Time Markdown Syntax Parser

With the real-time Markdown parsing engine enabled, you can utilize major Markdown syntax in real-time to format your text. Write in fullscreen mode with formatting rules at your fingertips!

The Recovery Zone

Desktop users are accustomed to the trash bin feature, where deleted files are temporarily stored and can be recovered until they are permanently removed. Writer Journal has implemented a similar feature, now called the Recovery Zone. This enhanced version not only allows for document recovery but also automatically deletes older documents when the user-defined Recovery Zone capacity is surpassed.

Protective Auto-Saving

Have you ever been frustrated by unsaved edits when your device shuts down due to low battery? With the protective auto-saving option enabled, Writer Journal periodically saves your work, ensuring you never have to worry about when you last hit the “Save” button.

Master Lock

For those who need to secure their documents from unauthorized access, the master lock feature allows you to protect your document or folder with a 4-digit PIN code.

Data Backup

Writer Journal offers both manual and automatic data backup and restore mechanisms. Users can easily back up their entire data manually or set up an auto backup configuration.

Share Text

Writer Journal allows sharing any document as either plain text or markdown text. (Markdown formatting is a rapidly growing text formatting standard supported by most editors.) You can also share your document as a universal document file.

Compile

WriterJournal introduces the Compile feature, allowing you to compile and convert your documents or folders into various universal document file formats, such as plain text (TXT) and printable PDF.

This feature also enables the compilation of an entire folder containing multiple documents into a single merged document file. This functionality is particularly beneficial for book writers, as it allows them to organize their entire book into chapters within a dedicated folder and then compile the folder into a desired document file format.

Additionally, the compile settings page provides options to adjust the compilation process, such as enabling a drop cap effect or using justified text.

WriterJournal encourages writers to organize their book within a single folder, where each document can represent a chapter or scene. The entire folder can then be compiled and exported into a single document file. Although it is possible to write an entire book in a single document, this approach is highly discouraged due to the difficulty in organizing and reordering longer documents. The recommended length for a scene or chapter is no more than 5000 words.

Export Document

Writer Journal supports converting your work into six different file types: TXT, HTML, Markdown, DOCX, PDF, and Writer Journal-compatible formats (WJDOC or WJFOLDER).

Export to Writer Journal-Compatible File Types

Writer Journal supports exporting documents as WJDOC files and folders as WJFOLDER files, which are fully compatible with the app for easy import and export.

Import Universal Document

Starting with Writer Journal 2.38, the app supports importing widely-used universal document file formats, including TXT, MD, and DOCX.

Note that Writer Journal supports a limited subset of Microsoft Word formatting options; the import and export of Microsoft Word DOCX files cater to user requests for a desktop version of Writer Journal software. These features allow you to edit documents using DOCX file editor tools on your desktop computer, Android smartphone, or web browser. (Writer Journal will not import DOCX files with elaborate formatting or charts, as these are not supported.)

The Correct Way to Use the DOCX File Import Feature

As mentioned earlier, users should create their document in Writer Journal first, edit it, export it as a DOCX file, move it to their desktop, and edit the DOCX file there without adding intricate formatting or charts. As not all Microsoft Word DOCX formatting options are supported by Writer Journal, users should then import the file back into Writer Journal for further editing if needed.

Bulk Import

Writer Journal supports bulk importing an entire folder containing multiple recognized document files. With the bulk import feature, users can easily import multiple documents at once.

Themes and Fonts

Writer Journal prioritizes the writer's visual comfort and writing experience, offering various light and dark themes and fonts to suit different writing habits and preferences, with a continually growing collection.

Future Plan and Development

Writer Journal’s design philosophy remains unchanged: we believe that simplicity holds complexity. We will not overwhelm users with unnecessary features and distractions, ensuring a smooth, distraction-free writing process.
